Google is a very popular search engine, but did you know that it could also serve as a Tutor? Click here to download a 5-page guide, or scroll down to view a tip that is not featured in the guide.

How to read your favorite blog in English:

If you read blogs written in languages other than English, you can now have that blog translated into English automatically. All you have to do is subscribe to a blog using Google Reader, then check “Feed settings” and afterwards, choose “Translate into my language."  Assuming that you have set your language as English in your preferences, Google Reader will now automatically translate the blog you have subscribed to into English.

Below is a picture of where you would choose the settings in Google Reader.

Great tip Jim. It's important to remember that these translations are EXTREMELY rough - they help to give a general idea of the content, but can be extremely inaccurate in terms of specific terms and context. As blogs use very idiomatic language in general, the chances that the translation is close to the original is not so high. Still, used with the understanding in mind that these are imprecise, these translation tools can help to a general understanding.
