Meaning of "Bite the bullet" idioms in videos by Gomathi on Englishcafe.

In the days before anesthesia surgery would be very painful and a person would be given a piece of leather or a soft lead bullet to bite on to prevent breaking teeth from grinding teeth together from pain. The idiom means "to get through a difficult or painful situation"
I can't afford a new car but my old car can't be fixed so I will have to bite the bullet and buy a new one anyway.
I didn't read the assingment but I will bite the bullet and take the examination.
My friend is a terrible cook but I don't want to hurt her
feelings so I bite the bullet and make sure I have some antacid
tablets when I go there for dinner.
