Yeah. I also remember a flying pig was on the ciling in a common
user room at my work place.
I found it at the Universal Studio. It is really attractive but a
little noisy.
Nowaday, things that were impossible become possible.
:)) Was your boss trying to tell you something? Like, "Don't even bother asking for anything because you'll only get it when pigs fly."

A little story about "when pigs fly":
I like the music group Pink Floyd. They broke up many, many years
ago and swore that they'd never get back together. However, they
did get back together a few years ago. At the concert, they had
huge pig balloons with wings, because when people say something is
impossible, they might say, "We'll get back together when pigs
fly!" Since they were back together, pigs must be flying ;)

...a great addition to our growing list, Shez! I have heard / used all of them, except for the last one, recently.
Do you have any stories to go with any of these? (about where you heard them/how they were used?
a few minor corrections:
If worse comes to worse OR If worse comes to worst (see this link)
look on the bright side
"my favorite" (not mine favorite)

I think you and I were typing at the same time, so we didn't see each other's posts :)

Where did you hear these? I like to have context when I see new words or idioms.
A couple of corrections:
If worse comes to worst (though I'm not sure if it
should be the comparative or the superlative)
last resort
look on the bright side
